Calendar Update

As the deadline gets closer, we are all getting excited. My time has been taken up with nursing my husband back to health and working on the calendar so my emails got backed up a bit but I am catching up.

Some more photo's???? Yes I have a few more photo's to share with you but I have to tell you about this awesome lady friend of mine she volunteered to help out with doing the photos. Her name is Kay Gardiner and that name probably looks familiar to some of you, well it better look familiar to you. She is one of the author's of "Mason-Dixon Knitting" and very talented. We are fortunate to have her join us again. Her cloth will be featured next time.

This time we are showing a cloth by Susan Mrenna and Alli Barrett.

Susan has submitted an adorable little Elephant this time. She had several cloths last year and her work is always welcomed. You can visit Susan's blog at http://www.knitalittle.com/.

The second cloth (above) is knitted in a pretty blue by Alli Barrett who is part owner of the awesome website Knitwits Heaven and you can visit the site at the following link: http://www.geocities.com/knitwits_heaven/
They have all kinds of subjects available at very reasonable prices. This little kitty is called "Feline Fantasy" and will be part of their animal segment later in the summer of 2008 or in the calendar in the next month. You can also visit Alli's blog at http://alliknitts.blogspot.com/
I will have more information listed here next week with a few more photo's and then it will be up for sale in September ssssooooo you will have to wait a longer for it to be available.

Well...I believe we are off and running here with lots of entries and only the best one's accepted for our Knitting Calendar. You will see some new faces and not so new faces. The first one on this update, in blue, is called "Flurry" and rightfully named...there is a flurry of activity here, beautifully done by Michelle Crimm. This year I am looking for designs that can utilize the tons and tons of variegated yarns we keep buying because, well because, we just can't help ourselves. Michelle has another item that isn't being featured in this update but you will see it in the next update. In the meantime you can look at her blog at http://southerncomfortcrochet.spaces.live.com/

One of my most favorite designers and people is Rainy Kimbrough, she is so talented. Not just as a designer but she has a beautiful voice as well and if you are in Texas...contact her and find out where she will be singing. You can see all of her great designs at http://www.rainyk.com she has some great soap for the soap sacks we knit along with some great baskets and lots of free knitting designs as well. I love the little bib she has done and the way she has finished it off, she has really dressed it up. She is calling these two designs "To Rib Or Not To Rib" cloth and bib.

Some more information about our upcoming calendar for those that are wanting more information:

We are still planning on offering our calendar, "Dishcloth Hangups For 2008"
in September 2007. The cost will be $16 electronically or $22 printed and mailed to you. Due to postage and printing costs being so high we don't plan to offer as a printed document unless requested. Everyone is going to electronic documents now and after what we went through, well what I went through last year, I am not soon to repeat it. I will print and mail out any requests for printed material, any out of country orders (Canada) will be sent by one of our contributors located in Canada (makes sense). We are selling Internationally again this year via Paypal, Mastercard, Visa and Electronic funds. No checks or Money Orders this year, just too manual of a process to keep up with and the issue with converting to US currency.

The calendar will appear as a regular calendar with the Photos on the calendar pages but with the patterns as an "insert". So many of you sent us feedback, which we really appreciated, about the font being so small, I believe it was a "2", well it seemed like it anyway. This will correct the font being so small so we fixed that little glitch too.

We will have a variety of patterns this year, pot holders, coasters, bibs, cloths, scrubbers and so on. I like that better and all the items will be household related.

I will give you a peek at some more patterns next week and will probably have more updated information too.

We appreciate your interest.

Calendar Update

Hi to everyone, I am adding another photo of a pattern that will be included in our Knitting Calendar due to go on sale in September of this year. This design reminded me of an afghan my mother made years ago for a friend of hers. She only crocheted but the shell and lace design she put together reminded me of this pattern. I have looked all over this house for that pattern of hers but can't find it anywhere.

The cover for the calendar is almost ready to "show off" to everyone. This year we are doing something different by showing all aspects of knitting in pictures to be placed on the cover and we are excited about it.

We are in the middle of making the decision about who will be hosting our calendar this year. We are making changes from last year and want to make sure whoever ends up supporting us will do a good job. As you may have quessed by now we are streamlining the calendar this year, using some of your suggestions from last year. I can't share a lot just yet, only because some of the items haven't been finalized yet. What I can tell you is we are getting quotes from some different sites about hosting our calendar and downloading it directly off the Internet instead of dealing with printers who want too much to put these together and calendars that the post office loses.

There will probably still be options for you to have them printed if you don't want to deal with it yourself or can't but it will probably cost more because of the fees involved. We are trying to keep the cost down for everyone. Last year as I think I have shared with you before, the contributors didn't really receive much for all their efforts and I need to make sure we have individuals who want to participate and make this fun for everyone too. There are several calendars for different crafts that have the photo's of the items on the calendar but the actual patterns are on inserts in the calendar. That option makes sense too because if you have the patterns on the calendars too, the printing has to be small to accommodate both and that was one thing a lot of people wanted changed this year. So we want to make sure the font isn't too small this year.

As soon as we have more information to share, I will forward to everyone. Next time...I will share with you what the calendar cover will look like.
