2008 Dishcloth Calendar UPDATE

I wanted to send an update to everyone who is interested in purchasing but who hasn't had a chance yet or those who know others that might be interested to have a download of our 2008 calendar. I am going to bring down the PayLoadz site currently housing our calendar on November 19th. We have had some maintenance issues with them and most of the people interested have already bought their copy.

You will still be able to receive the calendar by the following methods:

$16.00 For Dowloadable Copy Via Yahoo Group - go to PayPal site and "send money" to jnogle@cox.net along with an email stating you have paid and you want to join the Yahoo group. We wanted to still have the calendar available for those that didn't want to pay the$22

$22.00 For Printed version of calendar - You can use the same process above and get an invitation to the Yahoo Group and receive a printed copy from Janet OR go to http://2008dishclothhangups.blogspot.com/ and Andi will send you a hard copy and set you up in the Yahoo Group. Andi has been a big help and it is just better with two people available to help everyone.

When will the Calendar no longer be available? We plan on having the Calendar available till December 14th, after that date you will only be able to receive the calendar via the Yahoo group ($16.00). We both need time off for our families for Christmas. Thank you for your support.

Calendar Update

Well Wednesday is the big big day for our calendar. If you select the below link it will take you to paying for the calendar and complete the process. If you want more info about our calendar first, check out the info on this blog.

http://payloadz.com/go/sip?id=352505

For those of you who have asked for a printed version I will go ahead and honor but I can't take anymore hardcopy requests. We have had a family emergency and I am spending most of my day at a hospital. I hate to do that to you guys and if there was any other way I wouldn't have brought it up but I don't want someone waiting a month to get a calendar because of what is going on in my family right now. Andi Worthy (thingsstitched@hotmail.com) can help you with any issues if you can't get a response from me and for our friends outside the US, Alli Barrett (alliknitts@yahoo.com) can assist you. I apologize for the turn of events and again those I already commited to send one to and the raffle winners will receive their "hard" copy.

The designers have done such an awesome job and thanking them doesn't nearly say what is in my heart for these gals that continually give of themselves and have helped get this year's out to you so a million thanks to all of our contributors.

You will probably see a note about our calendar on all of our contributors websites. A special thanks to "Kay" for the awesome photos she did for us, to Flo at Peaches n Creme http://elmore-pisgah.com/ for the yarn contribution for our raffles and weekly drawings we will be having and for the folks at Signature Needlearts (https://www.signatureneedlearts.com/) for the free pair of knitting needles.

Calendar Update-October 6th

Hi guys, I just wanted to post a short message updating everyone on the progress of our Knitting Calendar. As an update on the number of raffles, it will now be 6 instead of 5 because the great folks at Signature Needle Arts have donated a beautiful pair of knitting needles, Size 7. I own a pair of these needles and absolutely love them! They are beautiful, you get to pick the type "Points" you want, the type of "caps" you want and the length. This photo shows you the pair we will be giving away.

I asked my grandkids if they would like to select the names for the raffle's and of course they thought that was sssuucchhh a privilege, but they wanted to do it all themselves, sssooooo they are sitting here right now cutting up names from my printout I gave them (pages and pages). They saved me all that work, they think it is cool. I lucked out there for sure.

Anyway, here is a photo of what they have done to date (not much), they have only been at it for a half hour so this is going to be a long day. So what will happen next is, the contributors have to sign off on the calendar, then I will upload it and find someone to test it to make sure it works like it should, then I will send out another update telling you it is ready. If you see a button on my site for ordering the calendar and I have not annouced it is ready, DO NOT select buying the calendar just yet, it means it is in a testing mode, I will send out another notice when it is ready for purchase, we are almost there :)

Calendar Update

Well we are getting closer and closer...I have all the patterns formatted and just waiting for all of them to be proofread and the contributors to sign off on them and then they will be available to everyone. Some info, it has been mentioned before but I will publish it again for those that may have missed it the first time.

The cost will be $16 to download (available on line), Paypal, Visa, Mastercard...no checks or money orders this year.

OR $22 for a printed copy to be mailed to you

25 Patterns in all this year so it is a bit more manageable

There will be a Yahoo group initiated for those that prefer not to install on their harddrive. There is no charge, just let me know when you purchase the calendar if you want to be a part of the group and I will send you an invitation.

A rough calculation on when it will be available will be the end of September. A lot of work goes into one of these.

There will be some feebies associated with the calendar that we are REALLY excited about.

1. Initially there will be 5 raffle packets given away, this will include one free printed calendar, 3 skeins of yarn and 4 stitch markers. This will be done the first week it goes on sale.

2. To kick off the sale of the calendar, we will be offering one new free pattern in celebration of putting our calendar up for sale. Where can you find that pattern you ask...you can find it at our friends website, Elmore-Pisgah, better known as Peaches & Creme. They will be sponsoring all of the yarn we are giving away and these people are awesome people to do business with. I have been buying my yarn there for several years and you couldn't ask for a better company to do business with. You can see all their great yarn at http://www.elmore-pisgah.com/

3. Starting the second week there will be a raffle every week, giving away 3 skeins of yarn to someone who purchased a calendar that week. So if it is 10 or 200 people who bought calendars for any given week you will have a chance to win some yarn. All the names will be put in a hat and we will have one lucky winner of yarn. This will be done up to Christmas week. check out the yarn I received for the give-away:

Gosh when I received it I thought I had died and went to heaven...rows and rows of yarn WOOHOO!!!

We haven't shown all the photos of the patterns you will be getting in the calendar, I have given you some photos whenever I have done an update but finishing out the year, in the month of December, one of the cloths is a different looking tree:

This was a bit tedious to figure out and get it right but it turned out OK. It is Adapted from the Alternating Lace stitch – found in the “365 Stitches A Day Perpetual Calendar".

We hope you will enjoy what we have put together for you this year and I will give more updated information the first part of next week.

Calendar Update - September 15, 2007

I thought it was time for an update and let you see the cover for our calendar. This is a "draft" and will be finalized next week. I have been really busy trying to finish up the patterns and the calendar portion of the "Dishcloth Hangups For 2008".

What do you think a great looking calendar cover should look like? OK...What do you think a great looking "Knitting" calendar should look like? It should probably look very appealing to a knitter and of course include patterns, better yet...patterns for the home AND there should be a raffle announcing its arrival too.
Wellllll you have come to right place!
We will have a raffle kicking off the first week of presenting our great looking calendar for 2008 and the raffle will include a calendar, yarn and stitch markers. Everything you will need to start using your calendar. How does it work? All the names of people who belong to Monthly Dishcloth Group, our Calendar Overflow Patterns Group and those who asked to be put on distribution of updates are included. If you fit in that category you don't need to do anything, if you are not in either group or if you are not on distribution you will need to send me an email requesting that you be added for the drawing at jnogle@cox.net . There will be 5 lucky winners and more freebies are around the corner so stayed tuned to find out whatelse will be given away.
Our calendar draft:

Here is a photo of another dishcloth you will find inside our calendar. It is a design by Kay Gardiner who also helped in bringing all of the great photos to you. Her cloth is called "Sunflower" and it is obvious why it has that name.

Kay is co-author, with Ann Shayne, of the blog and knitting books titled MASON-DIXON KNITTING. You can find her every day at http://www.masondixonknitting.com/, yakking about her knitting passions and other stuff :) She has the best sense of humor I have ever ran across and is a delight to work with. When I grow up...I want to be just like her :) They have one of the better knitting books around, it has something in it for everyone and we hope they give us many more great books.

Another popular gal is Rhonda White, she brought us "Spa and Bath Sets to Knit". A great pattern book that we all enjoy from cloths to soap sacks to some great headbands. Right now she is located in Japan making an everlasting imprint on the folks there by conducting knitting classes. Rhonda has a website full of free patterns, you can check them out at http://www.knittingknonsense.com/

Here are some great little scrubbies she submitted for our calendar:

When the calendar is ready to be purchased I will notify everyone that it is ready and what you need to do to purchase it, it will be rolled out along with more raffle information. We look to have it ready around the 20th of September, give or take a few days.
Thanks for your interest

Calendar Update

As the deadline gets closer, we are all getting excited. My time has been taken up with nursing my husband back to health and working on the calendar so my emails got backed up a bit but I am catching up.

Some more photo's???? Yes I have a few more photo's to share with you but I have to tell you about this awesome lady friend of mine she volunteered to help out with doing the photos. Her name is Kay Gardiner and that name probably looks familiar to some of you, well it better look familiar to you. She is one of the author's of "Mason-Dixon Knitting" and very talented. We are fortunate to have her join us again. Her cloth will be featured next time.

This time we are showing a cloth by Susan Mrenna and Alli Barrett.

Susan has submitted an adorable little Elephant this time. She had several cloths last year and her work is always welcomed. You can visit Susan's blog at http://www.knitalittle.com/.

The second cloth (above) is knitted in a pretty blue by Alli Barrett who is part owner of the awesome website Knitwits Heaven and you can visit the site at the following link: http://www.geocities.com/knitwits_heaven/
They have all kinds of subjects available at very reasonable prices. This little kitty is called "Feline Fantasy" and will be part of their animal segment later in the summer of 2008 or in the calendar in the next month. You can also visit Alli's blog at http://alliknitts.blogspot.com/
I will have more information listed here next week with a few more photo's and then it will be up for sale in September ssssooooo you will have to wait a longer for it to be available.

Well...I believe we are off and running here with lots of entries and only the best one's accepted for our Knitting Calendar. You will see some new faces and not so new faces. The first one on this update, in blue, is called "Flurry" and rightfully named...there is a flurry of activity here, beautifully done by Michelle Crimm. This year I am looking for designs that can utilize the tons and tons of variegated yarns we keep buying because, well because, we just can't help ourselves. Michelle has another item that isn't being featured in this update but you will see it in the next update. In the meantime you can look at her blog at http://southerncomfortcrochet.spaces.live.com/

One of my most favorite designers and people is Rainy Kimbrough, she is so talented. Not just as a designer but she has a beautiful voice as well and if you are in Texas...contact her and find out where she will be singing. You can see all of her great designs at http://www.rainyk.com she has some great soap for the soap sacks we knit along with some great baskets and lots of free knitting designs as well. I love the little bib she has done and the way she has finished it off, she has really dressed it up. She is calling these two designs "To Rib Or Not To Rib" cloth and bib.

Some more information about our upcoming calendar for those that are wanting more information:

We are still planning on offering our calendar, "Dishcloth Hangups For 2008"
in September 2007. The cost will be $16 electronically or $22 printed and mailed to you. Due to postage and printing costs being so high we don't plan to offer as a printed document unless requested. Everyone is going to electronic documents now and after what we went through, well what I went through last year, I am not soon to repeat it. I will print and mail out any requests for printed material, any out of country orders (Canada) will be sent by one of our contributors located in Canada (makes sense). We are selling Internationally again this year via Paypal, Mastercard, Visa and Electronic funds. No checks or Money Orders this year, just too manual of a process to keep up with and the issue with converting to US currency.

The calendar will appear as a regular calendar with the Photos on the calendar pages but with the patterns as an "insert". So many of you sent us feedback, which we really appreciated, about the font being so small, I believe it was a "2", well it seemed like it anyway. This will correct the font being so small so we fixed that little glitch too.

We will have a variety of patterns this year, pot holders, coasters, bibs, cloths, scrubbers and so on. I like that better and all the items will be household related.

I will give you a peek at some more patterns next week and will probably have more updated information too.

We appreciate your interest.

Calendar Update

Hi to everyone, I am adding another photo of a pattern that will be included in our Knitting Calendar due to go on sale in September of this year. This design reminded me of an afghan my mother made years ago for a friend of hers. She only crocheted but the shell and lace design she put together reminded me of this pattern. I have looked all over this house for that pattern of hers but can't find it anywhere.

The cover for the calendar is almost ready to "show off" to everyone. This year we are doing something different by showing all aspects of knitting in pictures to be placed on the cover and we are excited about it.

We are in the middle of making the decision about who will be hosting our calendar this year. We are making changes from last year and want to make sure whoever ends up supporting us will do a good job. As you may have quessed by now we are streamlining the calendar this year, using some of your suggestions from last year. I can't share a lot just yet, only because some of the items haven't been finalized yet. What I can tell you is we are getting quotes from some different sites about hosting our calendar and downloading it directly off the Internet instead of dealing with printers who want too much to put these together and calendars that the post office loses.

There will probably still be options for you to have them printed if you don't want to deal with it yourself or can't but it will probably cost more because of the fees involved. We are trying to keep the cost down for everyone. Last year as I think I have shared with you before, the contributors didn't really receive much for all their efforts and I need to make sure we have individuals who want to participate and make this fun for everyone too. There are several calendars for different crafts that have the photo's of the items on the calendar but the actual patterns are on inserts in the calendar. That option makes sense too because if you have the patterns on the calendars too, the printing has to be small to accommodate both and that was one thing a lot of people wanted changed this year. So we want to make sure the font isn't too small this year.

As soon as we have more information to share, I will forward to everyone. Next time...I will share with you what the calendar cover will look like.

Calendar Update

We now have all the contributors confirmed and as I share some photos, I will announce who they are, a little drama couldn't hurt :)

One of our contributor's has a website where her beautiful cloths are listed and I for one have purchased quite a few because of the unique stitches and borders that she incorporates in her cloths. Some of Sue's items can be found at: http://harvest-moon-designs.com/

Her "Summer Harvest" is shown to the left and will be listed in our 2008 Calendar.

Andi has several cloths that will be in our calendar this year. One design I love and think is adorable is her "Umberalla Cloth". Andi has dishcloth patterns and beautiful stitch markers that she makes. You can view her dishcloth patterns at:
Andi's stitch markers can be found at:
We are looking into various ways to deliver the calendars to everyone and maybe even more than one option will be offered. I hate to start telling everyone which way we are going to do this until right before they go on sale because best laid plans and all that stuff. I will notify everyone in the Calendar group and our Monthly Dishcloth group of any updates with this blog so everyone who wants to be in the loop receives the information. More photos will be available in a week or so on this site so everyone gets a little peek of what they can expect in the calendar for 2008.

Calendar Information-UPDATE

We are in the process of deciding how the calendar will be disbursed to everyone and the format. We realize the font was a bit small last time so we are taking measures to correct that.

We will have some new contributors this year and as soon as the number of contributors have been firmed up, I will post a note to this blog giving you the names of everyone. This calendar will probably be available in September this time so everyone will have a chance to purchase for Christmas if they decide they want to do it that way.

As soon as more information is available I will post it here. You may also contact me or Andi with any questions.

Calendar Update:

I am switching to another blog that is dedicated to the calendar only.

We have gotten back a lot of good feedback from the calendar we did for 2007 so some good changes are coming about for the Knitting Calendar for 2008. I will put more about that later, right now I am just establishing the new blog.

There will be a Knitting Calendar for 2008 and we have just about finalized the contributors for the calendar and have sent the contributors an email telling them they have been selected to participate for the calendar. We didn't really make anything off the calendar for 2007, our goal was to see if there was an interest in a knitting calendar for household patterns and WOW there was. The whole reason this came about was because of the lack of good calendars professionally done. Three of the knitting calendars I purchased for the last 3 years, each year thinking they would dedicate some space to the patterns our groups were interested in and about the only thing I could find plenty of in these calendars were shawls, scarfs and ponchos. Well you can wear so many of these items and couldn't believe that they totally saturated the markets with accessories most of us aren't that thrilled with anyway.

I couldn't believe the one calendar that has 365 patterns in it and only 14 patterns were directed to household items. I sent off a letter to them telling them I was very unhappy with them and although I have bought their calendar 3 years in a row I wouldn't buy anymore and told them they should have at least 50 patterns for the home...well they never responded and I had sent this prior to receiving the calendar for 2007 and when it arrived and I saw how few patterns were in there for the home I decided it was the last one of theirs I would buy, nor would I recommend to the groups on the Internet that I am involved with. They could have at least answered my concern about their product.

We will be doing one this year with larger print, which was a suggestion from quite a few people. It was hard to post all of the patterns we had and I needed to make the font pretty small to fit as many as I could in the calendar. We are looking into several different options to accommodate this change. So, "favoritize" this blog so you can check back often for more information.
